What is MCF?
What is MCF? MCF stands for Millsaps Christian Fellowship. MCF looks to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve. We do this through five main avenues:
1. Large Group: This is the most visible dimension of the ministry. MCF Large Group meets on Tuesday nights and is a great way for students to plug into the ministry. The evening usually consists of a time of singing followed by a message from Scripture, all in a non-threatening atmosphere.
2. Small Groups: In any given semester, there are 2-3 small groups offered for students on a variety of topics. In this informal setting, a student can feel comfortable discussing and looking deeper into the topics, all the while developing friendships.
3. One-on-One: This is a very important part of the ministry. MCF understands that everyone is an individual. Therefore, students have the chance to meet with staff over lunch or coffee on a regular basis in a one to one setting.
4. Community and Service: MCF desires to see a true body of Christians formed at Millsaps. Living out a true sense of community is built into every activity that we do. We love the campus and seek to do many things that college students enjoy - ultimate frisbee, watching movies, etc. We also look to meet the needs of the campus and the Jackson community through service.
*We aim to be a ministry for Millsaps, not simply for ourselves. Rather than pulling students away from campus, we encourage students to involve themselves in all that campus life has to offer. We seek to train students to engage and serve the university from a distinctly Christian perspective. We also desire to be an open door for those interested in exploring Christianity, never assuming that everyone in our midst has embraced the claims of Jesus.
5. Conferences: Finally, a few times during the year MCF is committed to getting out of town and gathering with other Christians from other campuses. Our Fall Conference and Summer Conference are great opportunities to get involved with MCF's ministry - while at the same time, observing how the Gospel is changing students lives and building communities of Christians on campuses all over the country.
