This fall, MCF will study the book of Exodus in Large Group. The book of Exodus is an epic story in which almost every scene is a masterpiece: the burning bush, the angel of death, the crossing of the sea, the manna in the wilderness, the Ten Commandments, the water from the rock, etc. For the Hebrew people, this story defined their existence and became the framework of thinking about how God does business with His people. For the Christian, it is the gospel of the Old Testament, God's first great act of redemption. The Exodus is about Jesus as much as it is about anything else. Like the Israelites, we need a Liberator to save us from our slavery to sin and to destroy our idols. We need a Lamb to atone for our sins. We need a Provider to feed us bread from heaven and water from the rock. We need Jesus.
